The Long Products Division, Steel of West Virginia is expanding and adding positions for Maintenance Supervisor, who will manage an hourly unionized maintenance crew of approximately 15 millwrights and 8 electricians.
We are seeking applicants who have a background as a millwright or electrician and who have either progressed in their career to management with a manufacturer OR have obtained a degree in mechanical engineering, metallurgical engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering technology or electrical engineering technology.
- Performs root cause analysis and facilitates implementation.
- Develops standard work procedures for maintenance department, including preventive maintenance, repairs and setup of equipment, and trains others to perform these activities.
- Helps develop design and installation specifications and commissioning plans for new equipment. Participates in the development of criteria for evaluating equipment.
- Works with production team to analyze assets including asset utilization, overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), remaining useful life, parameters that define operating condition, and reliability.
- Provides technical support to production, maintenance management and technical personnel.
- Immediately advises site leadership of any significant maintenance problems causing or having the potential to cause delays or shutdowns of operations and works expediently toward resolving issues.
- Partners with the production leadership team to develop operating procedures that help sustain reliability and incorporate operator preventive maintenance activities.
- Evaluates, coaches, trains, and leads millwrights and electricians.
- 3+ years of maintenance supervisory experience is preferred.
- Ability to develop training material and train others to perform precision maintenance.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects and meet all required deadlines.
- Good understanding of safety and the desire to follow all established procedures.
- Must have strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power-Point.
- Experience with maintenance in a Steel Mill or Melt Shop would be ideal.
- Hydraulic experience is preferred.
- Previous reliability, engineering, electrical and/or mechanical training or certification is a plus.
