Purpose: To provide each assigned resident with routine daily nursing care and services in a safe, timely and accurate manner in accordance with state and federal requirements and the policies and goals of this facility
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Job Responsibilities:
- Performs all personal care activities under the direction of an RN and which may include, but not be limited to, assisting the patient or client with personal hygiene, ambulation, eating, dressing, shaving, and physical transfer
- Maintenance of a clean, safe and healthy environment
- Other activities as taught by a licensed health professional employee
- Assisting with tasks associated with elimination including, but not limited to toileting, assisting with the use of the bedpan and urinal, providing catheter care including changing the urinary catheter bag, collecting specimens, and/or emptying ostomy bags, or changing bags that do not adhere to the skin.
- Assisting with the use of devices such as a wheelchair or walker
- Assisting with the prescribed range of motion exercises
- Measuring intake and output of fluids
- Measuring temperature, pulse, respiration or blood pressure.
- Keeping records of personal health care activities.
- Observing appearance and gross behavioral changes in the patient and reporting to the RN.
- Receive and give accurate and concise report at the beginning and end of your shift
- Assist with activities of daily living according to each resident’s C.N.A. care plan
- Ensure residents appear neat, clean and well-cared for at all times
- Report any refusal of care to the charge nurse
- Maintain hydration and nutritional status of each resident according to their plan of care
- Speak only in the resident’s language in and around their room
- Knock on the resident’s door before entering the room
- Maintain confidentiality, privacy and dignity at all times
- Call lights are kept within reach of each resident
- Answer call lights and alarms immediately
- Safety equipment such as lifts and gait belts are used according to facility policy
- Complete all documentation accurately before the end of the shift
- Notify the charge nurse or unit manager immediately of any change in a resident’s condition
- Notify charge nurse or unit manager immediately of accidents, incidents or complaints
- Report suspicions of abuse or misappropriation of resident property immediately
- Complete assigned duties completely and accurately without prompting

Requirements
New graduates accepted - 1-year experience preferred
Currently registered as a CNA in the state of Massachusetts
CNA: 1 year (Preferred)
Long-term care experience is desirable
Computer literacy is desirable
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility
Able to push, pull, move and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds for at least 50 feet with or without the aid of mechanical devices
