The Utility Kitchen Worker is responsible for maintaining cleanliness standards through the operation of dishwashing equipment and sinks, polishing silverware, removing garbage, and cleaning of equipment and work areas, including the sweeping and mopping of floors. This position will also assist in general food preparation for events.
Food Service at the Straz includes Fine dining, indoor & outdoor casual dining, catering, and meal services.
Located in downtown Tampa, the Straz offers flexible hours, event-based schedules including evenings and weekends, and a team-based work environment. Straz benefits for part-time staff include employee discounts and a 403(b) plan.
Essential Functions:
- Dishwashing
- Kitchen cleaning and sanitation
- Food handling and storage
- Recognizes quality standards in fresh vegetables, fish, dairy, and meats.
- Attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous to all guests, managers, and fellow employees
- Coordinates with Kitchen Supervisor, Sous Chef, and/or Executive Chef for banquet functions and special orders
- Obtains all supplies and equipment to perform duties.
- Performs other duties as requested by management.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
- One year dishwashing / commercial kitchen experience preferred.
- Experience in a comparable facility or related field preferred.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
