POSITION SUMMARY:
Support the goals of the Company (Johnson) by providing assistance on all facets of quality. Must have great attention to detail and great organizational skills. Ability to muli-task and read blueprints. This position is 100% based in the factory on the floor.
FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION
- Use quality control checklists and blueprints to inspect units throughout the phases of assembly with the aid of Quality Technician II or higher.
- Work with leads and supervisors to make necessary corrections in a timely manner.
- Ensure coil bases are foamed.
- Install beauty rings, access panels, door handles, Ludwig fasteners, and other miscellaneous items to unit post paint as well as combing coils.
- Gather ship loose items and ensure they are secured to the unit prior to shipping.
- Make minor corrections to unit in the shipping area if necessary.
- Ensure all coils are pressure tested and test forms are completed and turned into office.
- Ensure all electrical testing has been executed and meets all submittal expectations.
- Pass paperwork and photos to Quality Control Specialist for filing.
Quality Control technicians usually work in noisy factory or construction environments. Most of their time is spent standing, walking around, or on ladders while documenting items on checklists or taking photographs. Propper protective equipment must be worn while in the factory such as steel toe boots, hard hat, and eye protection.
EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED, additional technical school or bachelor's degree a plus
- Ability to use hand tools and powered tools such as drills
- Ability to use tape measure and perform basic shop math
- Ability to read and understand technical specifications including blueprints
- Understanding of HVAC and electrical a plus
- Ability to test units including pressure, leak tests, voltage and current readings, tachometer, accelerometer, and thermal readings a plus.
- Bilingual a plus
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to lift at least 70 pounds
- Ability to work 5 and occasionally 6 day weeks, 8 hour shifts with occasional overtime as needed.
