The Opportunity
The HVAC Sales Project Engineer Co-Op program is designed to provide real-life experiences and exposure within the sales, estimating, and project management life cycle. The Co-Op experience provides exposure to each of our sales groups – air distribution, hydronics, applied and owner sales. This Co-Op opportunity is comprehensive, client-driven, and strategically integrated into the departmental function of Engineering. We are looking for Co-Ops with the right mix of talent, enthusiasm, leadership skills, and effective communication skills with the ability to work in a cross-functional team setting.

Responsibilities:- Create and maintain job files for each project throughout its duration.
- Optimize the project through the stages of product selection, specifications, plans, estimates, proposals, value engineering and redesigns.
- Manage multiple projects on an ongoing basis.
- Communicate with owners, architects, MEP Consultants and General, Mechanical and Electrical Contractors
- Organize project related data for order entry.
- Respond to and track IOM & Submittal requests.
- Read, understand, and interpret building plans & specifications.
- Develop and grow relationships with customers, contractors, project engineers and manufacturers.
- Determine project requirements, constraints, and sales team responsibilities to meet all the customer’s system design, installation, and maintenance expectations.
- Investigate concerns, implement corrective action, and communicate with customers and co-workers as necessary to maximize customer satisfaction.
Expected Experiences:
- 1st Term: Introduction to Texas AirSystems – our customers, manufacturers, and company culture. An understanding of the construction market, including customer roles. Basic HVAC training. Manage bid coordination and attend bid meetings to discuss sales strategy and positioning. Customer service opportunities. Product training workshops. Simple estimating opportunities with air distribution. Participate in customer training and engineering presentations. Participate in ride along with service technicians.
- 2nd Term: CRM Training. Project management and job execution. Site visits to see equipment installations and troubleshooting. Build submittals and release equipment for production/manufacturing. Coordinate startup and warranty process. Participate in project management bi-weekly meetings to gain insights into company objectives and opportunities. Community service project.
- 3rd Term: Job shadowing of a salesperson and “be a technician for a day” if desirable to work in the field. Working with other departments to understand the entirety of the business. Assisting in sales presentations and bidding projects. Working with the hydronics team to understand hydronic systems and application. Factory visit to local factories in Texas and Oklahoma. Cross functional collaboration between departments, customers, and manufacturers. Attend industry networking events.
The Suggested Profile:
- A Sophomore or Junior working towards an undergraduate degree in engineering.
- Ability to work full-time/part-time during the Fall 2024 Semester (August – December)
- December 2025 or later graduation date
- Basic knowledge or interest in HVAC, estimating, engineering, construction management or contracting environment
- Interest in MEP consulting, architecture, design, CAD, general contracting, mechanical contracting, engineering, or construction industry a plus
- Strong PC skills in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Legal authorization to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future.

Environmental Requirements
Will be required to work in an office environment and occasionally in the field.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to operate computer keyboard and telephone, reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to twenty-five pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
