Within UAA, **_The Halbert and Nancy Robinson Center for Young Scholars (RC) at the University of Washington's_** mission is threefold: teaching, research, and service. The RC is a leader in the nation for developing programs that serve highly capable young pre-college and college students. The Halbert and Nancy Robinson Center for Young Scholars provides enrichment courses through the _Saturday Enrichment Program_ for students in grades K-8. These classes are designed to challenge, inspire, and engage intellectually ambitious students in a collaborative and supportive learning environment. **The Robinson Center (RC) is seeking candidates to** **_temporarily_** **teach enrichment classes for highly interested and motivated students in grades K-8.** The courses are offered each quarter, from Fall to Spring, and include eight 50-minutes sessions per quarter. This position involves curriculum development, class instruction, supervision of a teaching assistant, and attending all orientation and professional development required training. **DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO** Teaching & Learning: Planning, Instruction & Assessment - 85% + Maintaining a safe and inclusive classroom environment for a diverse population of students; + Designing and developing course curriculum with the advice of the Summer Program Director; + Preparing all course materials, including but not limited to syllabus, assignments, lesson plans, and supply lists; + Preparing and delivering classroom instruction; + Coordinating communication with students and families; + Collaborating with the Robinson Center Staff on program activities; + Other duties as needed.Program Support, Administrative & Professional Development - 15% + Attending all required professional development training; + Attending staff orientation prior to the start of the program; + Supervising of teaching aide (if applicable). **ALL UAA ROBINSON CENTER STAFF WILL DEMONSTRATE AND INTEGRATE THE FOLLOWING UNDERGRADUATE ACADEMIC AFFAIRS COMPETENCIES:** + Accountability and Integrity + Race, Equity, and Difference + Constituent Focus + Collaboration and Teamwork **MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS** + Bachelor's Degree in a subject matter relevant to the taught courses + At least four years of professional experience _Equivalent education and experience may substitute for minimum qualifications._ **ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS** + Able to attend all class sessions and staff orientation; + The ability to work collaboratively with staff and students at the Robinson Center. + Must be available for all Saturday class sessions of a quarter. **DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS** + Experience teaching K-8 students; + Experience working with academically advanced and highly motivated students; + Experience working with neurodiverse learners. _The Robinson Center is committed to providing a safe and welcoming space to people of all genders, religions, national origins, races, disabilities, sexual orientations, ethnicities, and documentation statuses.
