POSITION SUMMARY: The ideal candidate performs confidential secretarial and clerical responsibilities necessary for an efficient and effective office that assists the Administrator or designee and District staff in the performance of responsibilities so that a safe environment and effective clerical duties are provided. This is a substitute role. When substitute secretary needs are identified within the District, eligible substitute secretaries will be contacted regarding the specific assignment.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or other equivalent.
- Demonstrate excellent secretarial skills, including at least 45 words per minute at the keyboard with a minimum of errors, general bookkeeping skills, organizational and filing skills, and the ability to use electronic equipment for word processing, data management, information retrieval, and telecommunications.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office or an equivalent computer program.
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary.
- Demonstrate appropriate telephone etiquette, with proper voice inflection.
- Demonstrate good moral character and initiative.
- Exhibit a personality that demonstrates enthusiasm and interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff, administration, parents and the community, including difficult and emotional situations.

PERFORMANCE and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Organized and maintain an efficient and effective office that handles a variety of tasks for the administration, faculty, students, and parents of the school. Perform secretarial and clerical tasks of a varied nature. Many tasks will require a thorough knowledge of the rules and regulations of the school and school system and the frequent exercise of independent judgment within the scope of the authority granted by the Administrator.
- Distribute mail and handle correspondence of the office, responding to routine requests for information, and transcribing, word processing, and proofing letters and responses.
- Type, reproduce and distribute notices to staff, students and parents.
- Ensure that all communications from the office meet proper written and oral English standards.
- Perform any duties and responsibilities that are within the scope of employment, as assigned by the Administrator or designee, and not otherwise prohibited by law or regulation.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT TERMS :
- Clerical candidates are required to take a skills assessment test
- Clearances are required to secure employment and are required at the time of interview
- Completed physical within 30-days of hire
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Hire date is governed by clearances, completion of all required hiring documents, and board approval
- $13.00 per/hour.
