Supervise custodial staff and ensure the building and grounds are cleaned by using routine procedures to maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of building operations and grounds.

Education/Certification

High School Diploma or GED preferred

Valid class C Texas driver’s license and proof of insurability with District insurance carrier

Special Knowledge/Skills

Ability to read and understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance, and safety procedures

Strong organizational, communication (verbal and written), and interpersonal skills

Demonstrated ability to supervise and coordinate personnel to accomplish tasks

Broad knowledge of school housekeeping

Ability to operate and train in heavy cleaning equipment and the proper use of cleaning supplies

Ability to speak, read, and write English

Bilingual Spanish, preferred

Ability to utilize technology resources relevant to the position

Experience

Supervisory experience with custodial staff, preferably in educational environment

Major Responsibilities and Duties:Program Management

1. Work cooperatively with principals and supervisors to ensure a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of building operations.
2. Collaborate with the Operations Manager in matters pertaining to cleaning and maintaining buildings.
3. Complete administrative tasks as assigned.
4. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents as required.
5. Provide inventory of cleaning equipment and supplies at all campuses as needed
6. Provide routine preventive maintenance of equipment and document an emergency repair system.
7. Report and manage repairs through Facilities online workflow system
   • Personnel Management
8. Select, train, supervise, and evaluate custodial staff and make recommendations relative to assignment, retention, discipline, and dismissal.
9. Conduct on-the-job training as needed and ensure that new employees receive training and orientation for job responsibilities
10. Counsel employees as needed or document behavior and conduct.
11. Oversee work schedules and procedures for the regular custodial care of all district facilities and special custodial projects and make work assignments as needed.
12. Promote teamwork and high standards among staff.

1. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform duties, including lifting and climbing. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures. Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to the supervisor.
2. Contribute to preventing accidents and injuries by observing safety rules and District policy, practicing the principles and skills taught in safety training, wearing personal protective equipment as required, reporting injuries and incidences immediately to a supervisor, and being proactive in the ongoing efforts to improve and maintain workplace safety.

Supervise and evaluate the performance of team members.
