KIPP — the largest nonprofit network of college-preparatory, public charter schools in the nation—has demonstrated, at scale, that all children have the potential to excel academically regardless of race or zip code. KIPP currently serves over 120,000 students in 275 schools nationwide, including Indianapolis. KIPP Indy Public Schools (KIPP Indy) was founded in 2004 with one class of fifth-grade students and has grown to serve 1,500 students across four schools. Of the students that attend KIPP Indy, 98% qualify for free and reduced lunch, 92% are African American or LatinX, 13% receive special education services, and 18% are designated as Multilingual Learners. The vision at KIPP Indy College Prep Middle is that we will be the middle school of choice in Indianapolis by preparing our students to become exceptional leaders who make a positive impact on the world. • Develop and deliver high-quality, standards-aligned lessons that integrate hands-on labs and experiments to foster student engagement and deepen understanding of scientific principles.
• Design and implement a variety of instructional strategies, including inquiry-based learning and age-appropriate interventions, to support the diverse needs of all learners.
• Incorporate literacy and math skills to support the core when applicable.
• Foster scientific inquiry and curiosity through hands-on experiments and activities.
• Organize and manage lab activities, ensuring student safety while promoting exploration and real-world application of scientific concepts.
• Regularly assess student learning and track progress, using data to guide instruction.
• Maintain an organized, safe, and inclusive classroom/lab environment.
• Build strong relationships with students and families, providing support for academic growth.
• Collaborate with colleagues to align curriculum and improve instructional practices.
• Collaborate with core content teachers to support student growth.
• Scaffold lessons to meet the needs of all learners, including students with IEPs and ELL students.
• Actively work with academic coaches to continuously improve instructional practices, embrace feedback, and implement strategies for professional growth.
• Take ownership of your professional development by seeking out learning opportunities and reflecting on your teaching practices.

• Valid Indiana teaching license with certification in science (required).
• Bachelor’s degree in science or a related field (required).
• Experience teaching middle school science (preferred).
• Experience with science labs and hands-on learning (preferred).
• Strong record of academic success, especially in underserved communities (preferred).
• Commitment to KIPP Indy’s mission (required).
• Pass a criminal background check (required).

Licensed teacher starting at $50,000
Salary is commensurate with experience and includes a highly competitive benefits package. Opportunities for performance-based bonuses are also available.
