2025 Spring Tax Internship - Portland - BerryDunn

Are you ready to embark on an exciting career journey and develop a robust foundation in tax services? Join BerryDunn as a Tax Intern and gain hands-on experience with tax procedures including preparation, research, planning, and the creation of supporting work papers for various tax returns and projects. This internship offers an opportunity to work with clients across diverse industries such as Health Care, Not-for-Profit, Financial Services, Manufacturing, Construction, Higher Education, and many others. This position will be based out of our Portland, ME office.

What You'll Do:

• Tax Preparation & Planning: Engage in the preparation and planning of tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Research: Conduct thorough research to support tax positions and provide valuable insights for client projects.
• Client Interaction: Collaborate with clients from a wide range of industries, gaining exposure to diverse business practices.
• Supporting Work Papers: Prepare detailed supporting work papers for various tax filings and projects.

• Spring 2025 running from January 7, 2025 through April 11, 2025 (co-op program students may be eligible to extend).

Receive Training & Development:

Our comprehensive training program provides both technical and soft skills training, as well as an introduction to the firm’s systems, operations, and procedures including:

• Trial Balance Software Systems
• Depreciation Solution Software
• Tax Return Software (CCH Axcess)
• CaseWare for Electronic Workpapers
• Internal Office Procedures

Additional Opportunities:

• Participate with team members on tax client engagements and/or special projects supervised by senior staff members.
• Identify and document task issues and progress in a timely and organized manner.
• Develop an understanding of client businesses by working on a project team.
• Access learning and development resources to build your foundational career toolkit.
• Act as an ambassador to prospective interns from your university.

Additional Requirements:

• Currently enrolled as a student in an Accounting or related business program
• Available to work a minimum of 24 hours per week over three business days
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
• Strong analytical, communication (written & verbal), and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft programs (Work, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

The base salary range targeted for this role is $28.00 an hour. This salary range represents BerryDunn’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. If an applicant possesses experience, education, or other qualifications in excess of the minimum requirements for this posting, that applicant is encouraged to apply and a final salary range may then be based on those additional qualifications; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, years of experience, depth of experience, seniority, merit, education, training, amount of travel, and other relevant business considerations.
