What you can expect in this role
As a Spectrum Intern, you’ll be essential to two teams — your respective department and your Intern peer group. Department and team-focused projects account for about 80% of your schedule. You’ll spend the other 20% on professional development sessions and networking activities, including the Kickoff Conference on May 28, webinars, community service, cross-functional project, and final presentations.
Internship responsibilities may include:
- A successful intern will form part of a small multi-disciplined engineering team at Charter Communications, working with embedded software stacks.
- Additionally, there will be opportunities to implement streaming telemetry dashboards, identifying patterns, and use AI/ML techniques to analyze streaming telemetry results to improve customer experience.
- This project ideally suits someone who thinks creatively to produce a streaming telemetry platform, collect data, and utilize AI/ML techniques to interpret the data.
- The intern will collaborate with experienced network engineers, test engineers and data analysts, fostering teamwork and boundary-pushing contributions.
- This environment promotes learning of cutting-edge technologies, innovation, critical thinking and independent input.
- The intern will work with engineers to create streaming telemetry applications, collect, visualize, and analyze data, create demos and presentations.
Here’s what it takes to get started
Required qualifications
- Must be enrolled in an accredited College or University graduating with a bachelor’s degree between December 2025 - May 2026
- Must have at least a 3.0 GPA or greater in current program
- Ability to travel locally to Spectrum Intern development events and activities throughout the program
- Authorization to work in the U.S. without restrictions or need for Charter Sponsorship
Preferred qualifications
- Programming skills such as Python, C/C++, shell scripting and app development skills. Basic IP, TCP/QUIC, HTTP networking knowledge, packet capturing and network performance analysis
- Methods of automated measurement and testing
- Data analysis via machine learning and artificial intelligence
- The following skills and knowledge are a plus: Embedded Software Stacks, Cablelabs Low Latency DOCSIS and IETF L4S specifications
- SNMP MIBS, IPDR telemetry, OpenMetrics, Prometheus, Grafana
- Familiarity with popular latency-sensitive gaming applications
- Authorization to work in the U.S. without restrictions or need for Charter Sponsorship
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Oral and written skills
- Organizational skills
- Problem solving abilities
- Proficient in Software including Adobe, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word

The base pay for this position generally is between $26.00 and $27.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
