The Role:
This is a summer internship opportunity in Norwood, MA from June 2, 2025 August 15, 2025. Applicants must be available for the entire duration of the internship. Start date will be June 2, 2025.
The Quality Control Lab Systems Intern will work closely with the Lab Operations and Scheduling teams for an 11-week internship. The intern will assist in projects aimed at enhancing lab efficiency and optimizing scheduling systems for analytical testing within the lab. This role will involve data analysis, project management, and collaboration with key stakeholders to improve how analyst hands-on time and equipment utilization are factored into lab scheduling. This position is designed to give the intern hands-on experience in a quality control laboratory setting, while contributing to high-impact projects that support lab operations and efficiency.
Here's What Youll Do:
Analyze how analyst time is allocated to running analytical methods.
Identify opportunities to optimize hands-on time, streamline workflows, and reduce bottlenecks in scheduling.
Collaborate with lab analysts and managers to gather data and insights on workflow improvements.
Present findings and recommendations to improve scheduling practices.
Work with the Lab Operations team to conduct a utilization study on lab equipment to assess and gather data on current usage patterns, downtime, and inefficiencies.
Propose solutions to optimize equipment usage and improve overall lab scheduling and resource allocation.
Implement any changes or enhancements to the lab scheduling software to incorporate equipment time.
Report progress regularly to the Director of Global QC Lab Systems and prepare a final presentation of project results and recommendations at the end of the internship.
Heres What Youll Need:
Enrolled in a STEM-related undergraduate program, such as chemistry, biology, engineering, or related fields.
Knowledge of analytical testing preferred
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with large data sets and identify trends.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
Excellent written and oral communication skills for reporting and presenting findings.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with laboratory environments and lab equipment (desired but not required).
