About the Job
As a Technology Summer Team Member, you will play a vital role working alongside one of our many Technology Teams. In this role, you’ll utilize your skillset to help develop and enhance our in-house, industry-leading technology. Our technology allows our clients to succeed with industry-first applications, tools and support. You’ll also work on a summer-long project where you’ll collaborate alongside students with backgrounds & passions in software development, databases and infrastructures, cybersecurity, project management, and more!
The IT Technical Training team at UWM develops and delivers comprehensive training programs to equip employees with the necessary technical skills and knowledge, ensuring they can effectively use IT systems and tools to perform their roles efficiently.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:- Conducting comprehensive needs analysis and extracting the requirements of a client to determine the best solution.
- Collaborating with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to develop materials that are relevant for SMEs, fellow trainers, instructional designers and the business audience.
- Using data to measure the effectiveness of training materials and acting on any necessary changes.
- Utilize IT knowledge to assist in developing training content for the IT organization.
- Completing a project through the entire ADDIE process.
- Establishing and maintaining productive relationships within the IT organization to gain valuable insights and knowledge.
- Conducting peer reviews of training materials .
- Providing recommendations for improvements of materials and processes to leadership.
- Participate in cohort project with other Summer Team Members, developing and designing team specific tasks, executing project work, and delivering progress presentations.
- Participate in project focused Scrum rituals (standup, refinement, planning, retrospective).
- Graduating with a bachelor’s degree in 2025 or 2026 (current junior/senior status).
- The ability to work Monday thru Friday, 40-hours a week, fully on-site in Pontiac, MI from the end of May to mid-August.
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and excellent time-management skills.
- Ability to both thrive in a team environment and effectively work independently to complete assignments on time.
- Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to receive and apply feedback.
- Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills while being comfortable in a fast-moving environment.
- Ability to multitask and demonstrate adaptability and forward thinking in the face of technological or organizational change.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate complex technical issues and solutions in a clear, simple, and understandable way.
- A passion for sharing skills and knowledge with others.
- Tutoring/proctoring experience.
- Knowledge of learning theories, instructional design models, and developing and maintaining training or certification programs.
- Experience collaborating with teams and stakeholders to facilitate needs analyses.
- Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with multimedia tools such as Vyond, Camtasia, Snagit, Canva, Adobe Audition, and Audacity.
Nice to have:
- Work examples of prior projects or experience related to this role.
- Prior experience performing activities related to relevant IT roles, such as: Instructional Designer, Technical Trainer.
