About the Job
Our Not-for-Profit Tax team is looking for a Tax Intern. Are you ready to embark on an exciting career journey and develop a robust foundation in tax services? Join BerryDunn for Spring 2025 and gain hands-on experience with tax procedures including preparation, research, planning, and the creation of supporting work papers for various tax returns and projects. This internship offers an opportunity to work with clients across our Not-for-Profit client portfolio.
What You'll Do:
- Tax Preparation & Planning: Engage in the preparation and planning of various nonprofit tax returns (Form 990, Form 990-PF etc.) and related externsions, to be reviewed by senior staff members, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Research: Conduct thorough research to support tax positions and provide valuable insights for client projects.
- Client Interaction: Collaborate with clients from a wide range of industries, gaining exposure to diverse business practices.
- Supporting Work Papers: Prepare detailed supporting work papers for various tax filings and projects.
We have openings for:
- Spring session running from January 7, 2025, through May 2, 2025 (co-op program students may be eligible to extend).

Receive Training & Development:
Our comprehensive training program provides both technical and soft skills training, as well as an introduction to the firm’s systems, operations, and procedures including:
- Trial Balance Software Systems
- Depreciation Solution Software
- Tax Return Software (CCH Axcess)
- CaseWare for Electronic Workpapers
- Internal Office Procedures
Additional Opportunities:
- Participate with team members on tax client engagements and/or special projects supervised by senior staff members.
- Identify and document task issues and progress in a timely and organized manner.
- Develop an understanding of client businesses by working on a project team.
- Access learning and development resources to build your foundational career toolkit.
- Act as an ambassador to prospective interns from your university.

Additional Requirements:
- Currently enrolled as a student in an Accounting or related business program.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
- Available to work a minimum of 24 hours per week over three business days.
- Strong analytical, communication (written & verbal), and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft programs (Work, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
The hourly rate for this role is $28 per hour. This rate representsBerryDunn’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible compensation at the time of posting. If an applicant possesses experience, education, or other qualifications in excess of the minimum requirements for this posting, that applicant is encouraged to apply, and a final rate may then be based on those additional qualifications; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The rate of the finalist selected for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, years of experience, depth of experience, seniority, merit, education, training, amount of travel, and other relevant business considerations.
