About the Job
In this role, you will be involved across aspects of the editorial administrative day-to-day of the Harper Group; specifically, the Harper, Harper Business, Harper Influence, Broadside, and Harper Perennial imprints. You will report to the Administrative Assistant to the Department Head and will learn and be responsible for key tasks involved in author relations, manuscript routing, seasonal book launch preparation, and other areas.
This is a great opportunity to do hands-on work with the editors and staff responsible for internationally prominent titles in fiction and nonfiction.
- Develop a working understanding of the teams and tasks involved in publication of the Harper Group’s books.
- Learn important publishing software programs and use them to assist in author communications, expense processing, and other departmental functions.
- Co-gather and organize weekly editorial meeting agendas and take minutes.
- Help prepare submissions to literary awards.
- Contribute to preparation for the launch of fall titles.
- Attend meetings of interest. You’ll have a great chance to get to know editors and other staff.

- Candidates who are available to work in a full-time capacity in 2025 or 2026 are eligible for this internship; open to rising seniors, recent graduates, master’s students, or entry level candidates with up to two years of work experience.
- Candidates must be available to work in our NYC officefrom Monday – Thursday for a total of 28 hours per week, from June 2 – August 7, 2025. Compensation for this internship is $18 per hour.

- Ideal candidates are either currently enrolled in or have recently graduated from an undergraduate or master’s program.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.

- A passion for books is highly valued!
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite is required.
