Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for an HR Intern to join the HarperCollins People Team! This internship will provide you with exposure to various HR functions, allowing you to gain a comprehensive understanding of HR operations and practices. You will rotate through different HR specialties, including recruitment, employee lifecycle, employee relations, training and development, diversity and inclusion, and HR administration.
Responsibilities
Recruitment and Talent Acquisition:
- Assist in posting job openings, managing applications, and coordinating interviews.
- Help organize recruitment events and outreach efforts.
Employee Onboarding & Offboarding:
- Support the onboarding & offboarding process for new hires and departing employees, ensuring a smooth transition to and from the company.
- Prepare onboarding and offboarding materials and assist with orientation sessions.
Employee Relations:
- Assist with employee and managerial inquiries in partnership with the People Team.
- Take detailed notes during intake calls and update the tracker accordingly.
Training and Development:
- Participate in the planning and coordination of training programs.
- Track attendance and feedback provided.
Diversity and Inclusion:
- Help plan and coordinate D&I initiatives, such as workshops, information sessions, or awareness campaigns.
- Support with employee engagement surveys and analyze results.
- Assist with supporting employee resource groups.
HRIS & Benefits:
- Maintain employee records, prepare reports, and update HR databases.
- Assist in the administration of the employee benefits programs and respond to employee inquiries.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is a plus· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Basic understanding of HR principles and practices is preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- A positive attitude and eagerness to learn.
- Candidates who are available to work in a full-time capacity in 2025 or 2026 are eligible for this internship; open to rising seniors, recent graduates, master’s students, or entry level candidates with up to two years of work experience.
- Candidates must be available to work in our NYC office from Monday – Thursday for a total of 28 hours per week, from June 2 – August 7, 2025. Compensation for this internship is $18 per hour.
