Scope of the Position:The tool room Maintenance Technician II is responsible for conducting repairs and maintenance on plastic injection molds using various types of machine shop equipment. The tool room Maintenance Tech II works in a safe, effective and efficient manner in compliance with the Company policies, procedures, and legislative requirements.
This is a 2nd shift position.
Responsibilities:- Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
- Performs complete preventative maintenance without assistance or supervision.
- Utilize surface grinders by creating core pins, dressing the wheel, grinding pins to length, and setting up sine plates and spinning pins.
- Utilize Bridgeport machine by using proper feeds and speeds, indicating in a vise, using an edge finder and wiggler, and set up and use of rotary table. Must be able to identify all controls, and know what they do on machine.
- Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.
- Use of welding materials and tools to create a class A surface weld.
- Update and maintain documentation as required.
- Adhere to departmental procedures and systems, e.g., "systems for preventative maintenance", "maintenance requisitions", scheduled work and continued quality improvement/risk management programs.
- Use computers, as required.
- Recognize safety concerns and alert supervision/management.
- Perform all other duties as assigned or needed.
- Community College in a related field OR
- Five years in a mechanical/tooling capacity as a tradesman or;
- Five years related industrial repair/tool room experience.
- Highly motivated; able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Experience with Bridgeport work is expected.
- Ability to multi-task and establish priorities.
- Must be proficient troubleshooting plastic injection molds both in the tool room, and at the press. This includes assessing hot runner and valve gate manifold issues.
- Ability to independently seek out and suggest downtime reduction activities and projects.
- Able to create and read drawings to machine parts from, or have ability to machine to print.
- Ability to perform proficient polishing on a class A surface without supervision.
- Experience in using lathe machines is expected.
- Ability to interpret and implement Company policies and procedures.
- Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
- Able to communicate effectively in both verbally and in writing.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
