Job Summary
The EDM Lead will provide floor level leadership of the EDM department functions relating to the day-to-day operations including, but not limited to, labor work force, production rates, inventory control, quality control, housekeeping, production training, and safety. The EDM Lead is capable of performing all tasks required such as the set up and operation of all Electrical Discharge Machines (EDM).
Role and Responsibilities
- Maintain environment of teamwork, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Lead, assist and guide workers assigned to the department.
- Execute department schedule as directed by Supply Chain Management
- Set up and operate Fanuc wire EDM, a Belmont CNC EDM Drill and Charmilles sinker EDM to blueprint specifications.
- Ability to program all EDM’s using G & M codes.
- Ability to troubleshoot.
- Notify the Supervisor/Manager of any issues with manpower, equipment, or materials that would prevent the department from meeting the daily production requirements.
- Monitor production to ensure that operations are being performed in accordance with Traveler and Work Instructions.
- Responsible for daily production data reporting
- Responsible for maintaining good quality throughout the department. Continuously perform visual inspection on finished goods and reject defects. Routinely monitoring quality inspections and QC documentation
- Monitor and enforce good 5S housekeeping and GDP practices and safety standards.
- Ensure required maintenance and upkeep of equipment and machines in the department are completed.
- Perform ERP system transactions.
- Perform operator training & ensure all training records are up to date.
Level of Skill, Education and Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Experience reading (English), writing (English), and using arithmetic skills to perform work tasks.
- 2 years of leadership experience (directing the work of other employees)
- Manufacturing experience
- Mechanical ability
- Familiarity with personal computers
- Strong Analytical and Math aptitude
Physical Requirements
- Frequent performing repetitive work.
- Occasional lifting (max. 40 lbs.)
- Occasional carrying (max. 40 lbs.)
- Subject to physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts.
