Operations Lead, Manufacturing (Relief)

Nidec Minster has an immediate opening for an Operations Lead, Manufacturing (Relief). The Operations Lead, Manufacturing (Relief) primary function is to provide vacation and absenteeism relief to the Operations Leads in all manufacturing areas for short and long periods of time. This position will be responsible for leading and managing a team of skilled workers to produce high quality products for our customers in the areas they are assigned. The primary focus of this position is to uphold the highest levels of safety and quality within your area of responsibility while maintaining an efficient operation that delivers products on time. You will need to manage the costs of your operation to ensure we stay within the yearly expense budget of your area as it pertains to the areas of labor performance and quality. You will be responsible for continuously developing your workforce to ensure they are constantly learning and being challenged to grow. During periods of low absenteeism and vacation this person will also lead and facilitate continuous improvement projects or other special assignments.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Associates degree highly desirable, but not required with appropriate experience
- 3-5 years supervisory experience working with skilled craftsmen and semi skilled staff desirable
- Knowledge and experience in electrical/electronics/controls preferred
- Good communication skills (speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills)
- Must be able to multitask in an environment where priorities are fluid
Primary Duties and Responsibility: It is the responsibility of this person to achieve all goals and objectives of the position. If goals and objectives are not understood or fully embraced actions are initiated mutually resolve in advance
- Ensure that a safe work environment is maintained for all employees and visitors through the enforcement of company safety policies and compliance to safety/environmental standards.
- Drive first time quality within assigned area to eliminate scrap, rework.
- Responsible for ensuring that your assigned area produces products at an ever-increasing efficiency.
- Organize adequate manpower to produce products on-time by adhering to part/product schedules.
- Focus on your development and growth by actively participating in the leadership classes offered by the company. Utilize the skills/techniques/strategies learned in these classes to engage and inspire your workforce.
- Continuously work to develop a highly effective workforce through coaching, structured training, motivation, reward/recognition and promoting high-performance teamwork.
- Share and support the corporate mission and strategy with all employees.
- Enforce company policies and regulations. This may include applying discipline to those under you leadership if violations are found to have occurred.
- Promote and actively participate in the Continuous Improvement process to improve in the areas of safety, quality, efficiency and delivery.
- Responsible for certain necessary administrative functions within your operation such as: labor tracking, time cards, overtime tracking, etc.
- Effectively communicate and interact with all organizational levels within Nidec Minster and Nidec Minster's important customers/suppliers.
- Uphold the Nidec Minster company image by setting a positive example for all employees.
- Engage in direct labor activities as required or directed 50% of the time on average.
