Position: 2nd Shift Supervisor.
Department: Operations.
Reports To: Plant Manager.
FLSA Status: Hourly Non-Exempt.
SUMMARY:
Manage and supervise all production activities during the second shift, ensuring efficient workflow, adherence to safety protocols, and achievement of daily output targets. Oversee team performance, resolve operational issues, and coordinate with other shifts and departments to maintain seamless production continuity.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Include the following:
- Ensure Safety procedures are being followed and that a culture of Safety is a top priority.
- Lead a production team of approximately 15 employees to achieve throughput targets and exceed customer expectations.
- Be a present leader on the shop floor that can answer questions, lead by example, and earn the trust of the production team.
- Assist in the development and implementation of performance metrics to measure the plants performance on a daily basis. Improve throughput by using continuous improvement, Lean, and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Assist in the achievement of daily, weekly, and monthly throughput and profitability targets.
- Understand customer expectations, job profitability, capacity constraints, processing techniques, material optimization and work flow improvements.
- Update production supervisor of any changes to project timelines.
- Communicate plant maintenance needs to Plant manager and Maintenance.
- Assist the Plant Manager to refining and implementation of the company's operational strategy, focusing on optimizing production processes, enhancing efficiency, and meeting KPI’s related to quality, safety, and output.
- Provide insights on capacity planning, resource allocation, and workflow improvements to ensure seamless operations and alignment with organizational goals.
- Communicate any/all variance to operational plans to the ownership/leadership team.
- Complete performance reviews as needed.
- Perform other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- 3-5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven ability to solve problems and maximize production output while efficiently utilizing resources including labor, time and materials.
- Proven ability to direct and train people with an emphasis on coaching and growing employees.
- 2-5 years of Lean manufacturing experience, preferably experience in a Job Shop.
- The ability to train and implement Lean concepts to the production staff including Value Added, Time, Kanban Systems and 5S, is preferred.
- Assist in the design and implementation of performance metrics based on production information.
- Be a catalyst for Continuous Improvement through coaching, teaching and drive Continuous.
- Improvement Projects.
- Foster a culture of continual leadership training with a focus on developing the "next generation" of leaders from within the company.
AUTHORITY:
- Oversee the execution of the production on 2nd shift.
- Recommend promotion and dismissal of employees.
- Recommend all pay changes.
