Applicants must meet the “Every Student Succeeds Act” highly qualified requirement through two years of college, or an Associate’s degree or higher; or have passed the ParaPro Assessment Test. This position is subject to the Collective Bargaining Agreement , SEIU Local 925.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Organizational skills: Manage time and complete tasks. Manage groups of students at lunch and at recess and maintain safety and order in a variety of situations. Periodically will be required to supervise swimming.
Confidentiality: Respect and maintain confidentiality.
Collaboration: Work with other adults in supervisory teams to ensure the safety and positive experience of all students.
Flexibility: Adapt to new schedules and assignments.
Receptiveness: Listen, understand and respond appropriately to suggestions from supervisor and teachers.
Student Behavior Management: Interact with students respectfully following school discipline procedures.
Ability to Maintain Safe Environment: Maintain order in a variety of situations, such as the lunchroom, detention room, hallways and outdoor areas. Guide students to problem solving conflicts appropriately.
Positive Attitude: Conduct oneself in a manner that contributes to the positive image of the organization.
Initiative: Self-motivated and creative in finding solutions for achieving job expectations.
Stability: Remain calm and effective under pressure and stress.
Dependability: Punctual and dependable to complete tasks and maintain schedule.
Valid First Aid/CPR card preferred.
Sense of humor.
Willingness to complete Safety Care De-escalation training.
Good attendance is essential.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Supervision of students at lunch, at recess and in small group settings. Duties may include but are not limited to: lunchroom supervision, playground supervision, bus duty, hall duty, assemblies, or assisting individual students in meeting behavioral expectations. Supervise students to ensure students are safe and following school expectations for behavior and decorum.
Arrive on time to your duty area. Work collaboratively with other staff members who are also on duty.
Develop a positive relationship with students. Talk with and engage students in good behavior, be a good role model. Circulate, observe and redirect students as necessary.
Assist students as needed and report any concerns to the building Principal.
Assist in keeping school public areas clean and tidy.
Remain in the area being supervised until all students are accounted for and/or have been dismissed. Proceed toward the direction where students are going and continue to assist with supervision.
Assist office staff with clerical duties when student supervision is not needed.
Provide instructional support to students under the direction of a certificated teacher. This may include intervention or special education duties.
Other student assistance duties as assigned.
Salary Range: $21.77 - $26.77 per hour (Depends on school district experience)
