The Opportunity
The School Counselor will provide individual, small group, and classroom guidance to promote enhanced school culture. Our staff provide individualized academic and behavioral interventions with an innovative learning approach, personalized attention, and all the necessary support services students need to thrive.
Responsibilities:Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Support with academic, emotional, behavioral, or developmental issues while consulting with parents, classroom teachers, school principal and other school personnel to maximize effectiveness of services, as appropriate
- Perform learning assessments, when appropriate, to examine the learning styles, strengths, and weaknesses of a student to give school personnel and parents more information about a child’s academic performance and to ascertain the need for further referral
- Serve as a resource to parents and school personnel in locating services within the community to help meet the needs of individual students or families
- Participate in supervision on regular basis with the Program Supervisor
- Complete all required paperwork in an accurate and timely manner
- Provide learning assessments to establish achievement, visual-motor and cognitive abilities; Interpret and share the results with parents and appropriate school personnel
Qualifications
- Masters Degree from an accredited institution of higher learning required
- Valid Social work license (LPC, LPCP, LSW, LCSW, MFT)
- Valid Certification of School Counseling appropriate to the role preferred/required
- Commitment to learning and implementing feedback
- Ability to adapt and remain flexible
