Job Summary

To act as both an office manager and chair-side assistant, in order to help maintain an efficient, safe and productive dental office. The Dental Assistant will adhere to evidence-based practice guidelines, professional standards, and state and federal requirements.

Job Duties

• Maintain a clean dental office and housekeeping duties as assigned by the dentist.
• Communication – Maintain communication with KP staff, nurses and outside office referrals regarding dental office.
• Safety – Perform and monitor monthly infection control. Sterilize instruments utilizing appropriate techniques and according to OSHA regulations. Conduct cleaning of the sterilizer according to established protocols and time. Perform weekly spore testing for sterilizers.
• Maintenance – Perform biweekly maintenance of x-ray developer. Perform weekly maintenance of the autoclave.
• All other duties assigned by management. 6. Medical Treatment – Assist in 4-handed dentistry. Take quality radiographs. Administration – Gather client charts for discharge and upload to the system weekly. Maintain and transmit appropriate information for billing of services. Enter all dental information into the health service system. Schedule dental appointments for KidsPeace Dentist.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or equivalent required.
• Certification as a dental assistant required/ X-ray certification required.
• Prior experience in a dental office is preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills. Bilingual preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, including the ability to interact with all levels of staff.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Experience with acute emotionally challenged children or adolescents preferred.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Demonstrated computer experience in current technology, including Lawson, Word and Excel.
• Demonstrated Customer Service experience.
• Excellent time management, attention to detail and prioritization skills
