Responsibilities:
As a 990 Tax Accountant, your primary responsibilities will include:
1. Preparing and reviewing Form 990 tax returns for our organization, ensuring compliance with federal and state tax laws.
2. Developing and implementing effective tax planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities and maximize compliance.
3. Conducting thorough tax research and analysis to support tax planning activities.
4. Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of tax laws and regulations, and ensuring our organization's tax practices remain compliant.
5. Collaborating with other departments to gather necessary information for tax reporting.
6. Assisting with internal and external audits related to taxes.
7. Providing guidance and support to the organization on tax-related matters, such as tax implications of business decisions and potential tax benefits.
8. Preparing tax projections and estimated tax payments.
9. Collaborating with the financial team to prepare financial statements and reports.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, the candidate must possess the following qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A CPA or Master's degree in Taxation is a plus.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in tax accounting, with a focus on 990 tax returns.
3. Knowledge of federal and state tax laws and regulations.
4. Proven experience in tax planning and strategy development.
5. Proficiency in tax software and accounting systems.
6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail.
7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
9. Experience in the healthcare industry is preferred but not required.
