Purpose of Position:

• Serves as a resource regarding alternative payment options for uninsured or underinsured patients
• Assists patients by providing them with a clear understanding of medical financial liabilities and assistance options

Skills and Qualifications:

• High school graduate, minimum
• 3 years experience in hospital, physician’s office related field
• Good working knowledge of billing and collection procedures
• Refined oral communication skills
• Professional manner and appearance in accordance to the Aultman Hospital policies
• Excellent customer service skills
• Good working knowledge of Medipac and Micro Soft Office applications
• Knowledge of insurances and social services
• Good time management and organization skills

Primary Responsibility:

• Work with other hospital departments to assure integration of financial counseling into the clinical areas
• Work in conjunction with local and/or state social service agencies to provide care for patients after discharge from Aultman Hospital
• Assist in coordinated prescription assistance for patients in need of that service
• Attend all required on site training as well as any other state sponsored seminars necessary to maintain current eligibility guidelines
