The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) invites applications for the position of Executive Director of Undergraduate Admission. Reporting to the Associate Vice Chancellor (AVC) for Enrollment management, the Executive Director is responsible for the strategic oversight of recruitment, admission, and enrollment of all new undergraduates, both first-year and transfer, to UCLA. The Executive Director leads UCLA's efforts to attract an academically talented and racially, ethnically, geographically, and socio-economically diverse pool of applicants each year. In alignment with policies enacted by faculty, the Executive Director will lead the application review process that helps the campus achieve critical and ambitious enrollment goals each year. The successful candidate for this role will bring significant admission background and experience in the field of undergraduate admission and will demonstrate values that align with those of UCLA, namely a commitment to access, equity, and inclusive excellence. Attracting an applicant pool of over 170,000 first-year and transfer applicants this past year, UCLA is the most applied to campus in the US and annually enrolls 10,000+ new students, over 1/3 of which are newly enrolled transfers. The Executive Director functions with a very high degree of autonomy and is an essential member of the Enrollment Management leadership team. Also, the Executive Director will contribute to the creation of data-informed enrollment strategies, collaborating closely with the Associate Vice Chancellor and other leaders within the division and throughout campus to ensure the development of an integrated outreach, recruitment, admission and financial aid strategy.

10 years of experience in progressively responsible positions leading and managing undergraduate admissions at a large institution (Required) Detailed knowledge of University-level undergraduate admission and enrollment management strategies, promising practices in the field, and state and national admissions issues and trends. (Required) Demonstrated ability to effectively manage an admissions office of a large educational institution with a highly diverse student population and staff. (Required) Ability to see the "big picture," recognize new possibilities, challenge established policies and practices, and solve complex problems, often without precedent. (Required)Ability to lead and implement organizational strategic planning. (Required)Ability to implement services and programs in an efficient, effective manner and to evaluate these efforts with a focus on continuous improvement to quality of basic admissions processes. (Required)Ability to proactively analyze complex situations and issues and to work creatively, using a variety of quantitative and qualitative tools, to inform decision-making and devise strategies for addressing specific admissions and enrollment-related situations. (Required)Ability to synthesize information quickly, multi-task, work effectively - sometimes under extreme pressure of deadlines - and work easily with ambiguity and shifting priorities. (Required)Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with diverse populations and to represent the University in a professional, authoritative and tactful manner on complex and important issues, promoting goodwill and public support for UCLA. (Required)Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to define timelines, actions and critical paths to keep projects moving forward and allow for completion of goals and successful outcomes. (Required)Working knowledge of admissions-related information management systems and analytical ability to evaluate system needs and develop programs responsive to student and administrative requirements. (Required)Supervisory and leadership skills, including diplomacy, listening and negotiation skills, sufficient to direct a large professional and administrative staff, and maintain the high morale of that staff. (Required)Demonstrated ability to plan and manage fiscal resources through budget planning and fund management. (Required)Outstanding oral/written communication skills that demonstrate the ability to effectively present info; make persuasive speeches/presentations on controversial or complex topics; and, influence outcomes.
