Job Summary:
The Accounts Payable Manager will oversee the accounts payable process, ensuring accurate and timely payment of invoices and expenses. This role involves managing a team of accounts payable staff, improving processes, and maintaining strong vendor relationships. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, leadership capabilities, and a thorough understanding of accounting principles.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Management:
- Lead, train, and mentor accounts payable staff.
- Allocate tasks and monitor team performance to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to team members.
Invoice Processing:
- Oversee the accurate and timely processing of invoices and expense reports.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Resolve any discrepancies or issues related to invoices.
Vendor Management:
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with vendors and suppliers.
- Negotiate payment terms and resolve any disputes or payment issues.
- Ensure timely and accurate payment to vendors.
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and review accounts payable reports and financial statements.
- Ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Analyze and report on accounts payable metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices.
- Develop and maintain accounts payable policies and procedures.
- Streamline workflows to enhance efficiency and reduce errors.
Compliance and Audits:
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, laws, and company policies.
- Prepare for and support internal and external audits.
- Maintain accurate and organized records for audit purposes.
System Management:
- Oversee the management and maintenance of accounts payable systems and software.
- Collaborate with IT to resolve system issues and implement system upgrades or changes.
- Ensure proper system configuration and data accuracy.
Qualifications:
Pay DOE 63K to 95K
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience in accounts payable or a similar role, with 2 years in a managerial capacity.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
