Job Description: | The Assistant Director is responsible for the overall planning, coordination, and execution of a comprehensive employee relations program for faculty and staff that is consistent with the mission, vision, and values of UFHR and Employee Relations’ strategic objectives. Serves as a strategic partner to university leadership, providing guidance and recommendations to Deans, Associate Deans, unit administrators, HR liaisons, managers and employees on a variety of employee relations matters. Interpret, communicate, and ensure compliance with applicable employment laws, UF regulations, policies, and procedures. Responsible for assisting management of the areas served regarding the interpretation and application of relevant regulations and collective bargaining agreements. May be consulted to provide guidance and collaboration on college/unit programs and initiatives. Review, provide guidance, recommendations, and draft appropriate faculty and staff employee relations actions, including disciplinary actions, evaluations, performance improvement plans, probationary actions, non-reappointments, and other notices of separation, including the management and coordination of the layoff process for assigned areas. Review various employment actions and draft relevant documentation. Supports the Employee Relations performance management initiatives within the HSC. Is proactive in supporting the development and growth of a performance-based culture including, but not limited to providing consultation on performance management issues, influencing leadership on proactive accountability measures, and working to create a culture of feedback and accountability. Provides the guidance and coaching necessary to effectively build leadership skills in managing workforce interactions among HSC managers. Is proactive in identifying workforce engagement opportunities to improve and enhance the working environment and leadership capabilities throughout the HSC. Takes initiative in developing and implementing appropriate performance management action plans. Leads in the design, development and implementation of employee relations initiatives and special projects specific to the HSC environment, either as initiated or assigned by the Director, or in support of the leadership of the various Colleges within the HSC. Provides leadership and consultation for projects that may involve organizational development strategies, change management and succession planning. Develop, implement, and lead trainings. Serves as a member of the Employee Relations Management team and, as such, will be involved in non-HSC ER projects and initiatives and may be asked to represent the ER leadership team at non-HSC events. |
Expected Salary: | $95,000 - $105,000 |
Minimum Requirements: | Masters degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience; or a bachelors degree in an appropriate area and six years of relevant experience. |
