Responsibilities
In collaboration with and support of the VP of Taxation and other stakeholders within Ascension, participates in leading the delivery of tax advisory and planning services across the organization. Has a leadership role in ensuring that System tax reporting complies with applicable federal, state and local tax laws and regulations.
• Collaborates with the VP of Tax to support leaders and other stakeholders and decision-
makers within Ascension concerning tax issues.
• Collaborates with the VP of Tax to manage tax policies and procedures to ensure compliance
with tax laws.
• Researches, studies and interprets tax law. Prepares payments, identifies tax savings, and
analyzes tax issues.
• Oversees maintenance of tax records and preparation of tax returns in compliance with
federal, state, local, and/or foreign tax laws.
• Conducts hiring, training, directing, development and evaluation of staff.
Requirements
Licensure / Certification / Registration
+ Preferred Credential(s): Accountant, attorney, or relevant tax designation.
Education and Experience:
+ Associates degree/Bachelor's degree with 5 years of applicable cumulative job-specificexperience required, with 3 of those years being in leadership/management.
+ Advanced degree may be substituted for some work experience. Preference for Master’s degree, J.D., or relevant professional experience indicating expertise in complex tax matters and the ability to succeed in a leadership role across a variety of tax areas with evolving tax needs.
