POSITION SUMMARY:
The Academic Success Education Coordinator will be responsible for serving as a liaison between
the BGC Branch, the local schools, other BGCCF staff, mentors, parents, and participants to
accomplish the goals of the MAGIC of Literacy Program.
The Academic Success Education Coordinator is responsible for providing intensive literacy and
academic support for Club members ranging in age from 6 through 18 years old. Monitor
academic performance, develop high-yield and project-based educational initiatives, literacy
based programs and provide consistent small-group instruction to accomplish the core
components of reading (phonics, phonemic awareness, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and
oral language).
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
- Lead educational programs and activities, with a primary focus on creatively improving the literacy skills of Club members and providing small group tutoring as needed.
- Develop project-based learning and high-yield learning activities to support the academic success of Club members.
- Monitor academic performance and administer diagnostic/progress monitoring assessments to track baseline, mid-year, and end-of-year progress.
- Report progress to the Service Director, Director of Academic Success, and Grants Manager.
- Meet with the Director of Academic Success and appropriate school personnel to coordinate participants' educational needs, progress, and appropriate learning approach.
- Develop individual learning plans and maintain individual participant case files as needed.
- Implement the MAGIC of Literacy program emphasizing foundational reading skills as the key to unlocking other school subjects such as history, math, and science.
- Ensure Club Member participation in literacy-related programs at the direction of supervision.
- Interpret data after assessments have been conducted and support Club Members in discovering their strengths and setting reading goals.
- Identify students eligible for the program's academic interventions, transitional services support, and/or Orange County residents.
- Ensure that program components as described in the grant are developed and implemented.
- Create and maintain files for each participant.
- Attend professional development sessions to enhance teaching and coaching skills.
- Coordinate meetings quarterly to include the following participants to discuss program outcomes and deliverables: Service Director, Director of Academic Success, Educational Coordinator, Grants Manager, and/or VP of Club Operations.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience
- Current Florida Certified Teacher preferably with Reading Endorsement
- Comfortable speaking in front of large groups and classrooms of students
- Excellent teaching experience (based on evaluations and written recommendations)
- Knowledgeable about reading processes, assessment, and instruction.
- A minimum of at least two years of experience working in a structured educational or youth development program.
- Knowledge of software applications: word processing, spreadsheet, and database.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Valid driver's license with good driving record, and consistent access to a vehicle with appropriate insurance required.

Relationships
- Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with Club staff, Support Office personnel, volunteers, Club members, and supervisors to exchange information, address issues, and provide or clarify guidelines and instructions.
- External: Cultivates long-term relationships with community partners, schools, and other organizations to create a sustainable pipeline of volunteers and group volunteer partners. Engages with these external groups to build collaborative efforts and ensure a steady flow of volunteer support for Club activities and programs. Maintain oral, written, and personal contact with external organizations and community groups, serving as a resource for volunteer recruitment and selection.

ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
- The position requires working in both indoor and outdoor environments of an office or facility setting, which may involve exposure to varying weather conditions.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and policy manuals.
- Required to operate a motor vehicle.
- Must be able to perform CPR or first aid if needed.
- Work in environments frequented by children and families, requiring adherence to safety and conduct standards that ensure a child-friendly and family-oriented atmosphere.
- Must be adaptable to a dynamic work schedule, including evenings and weekends, to support volunteer activities and events.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Physically capable of performing activities and duties on-site, including lifting up to 50 pounds, standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods, bending, and reaching.
- Ability to maintain a high energy level when necessary.
- Visual and auditory acuity to monitor the environment and ensure safety standards are maintained.
- Mental resilience and the ability to stay focused and effective in a busy, sometimes noisy environment.
- Capacity to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize effectively.
- Operates a computer and other office productivity equipment such as a copy machine, phone, printer, tablet, and typing on a keyboard (frequently).
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact positively with volunteers, youth members, community members, and other staff.
- Exposure to outdoor weather conditions (occasionally).

- Candidates must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
