General Description: Reporting to the Accounts Receivable Supervisor, the Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for the timely collection of payments, billing/invoice processing, and recording revenue consistent with prescribed accounting policies and procedures and internal controls. The Accounting Specialist is involved in collection activities, including identifying, resolving, and mitigating account/payment delinquencies in a timely manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

70 | Prepares and issues monthly invoices. |
10 | Creates and inputs receipts using information from multiple banking and donation/payer websites. |
5 | Monitors accounts and makes collection calls on outstanding invoices and handles disputed invoices. Escalates collections issues appropriately and in a timely manner. |
4 | Works closely with the Accounts Receivable Supervisor on revenue recognition and allocation and maintains financial security by adhering to internal controls. |
3 | Conducts account research and analysis. |
3 | Interacts with various governmental and funding agencies. |
3 | Bank deposits. Proper filing and organization of archives. |
2 | All other duties as assigned. |
Qualifications Requirements:

Education and/or Experience
AA Degree or equivalent in accounting or a related field; and one or more years related experience in accounts receivable and general ledger reconciliations, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Non-profit experience preferred. ERP accounting software experience preferred.
Language Skills
Ability to speak, read, and write English. Excellent oral and written communications skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret accounting journals, financial reports and other documents commonly used in account or administration functions. Ability to respond appropriately to common inquiries or complaints from clients, regulatory agencies, staff members or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to management and to respond in writing to situations, as required by management. Must communicate effectively, anticipating needs and keeping staff informed of problems and issues.
Mathematical Skills
Strong financial and record keeping skills. Substantial ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of arithmetic and basic algebra.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, evaluate information, draw conclusions, and propose appropriate, workable solutions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Ability to operate a ten key calculator and work with MSOffice products, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information and situations. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain positive working relationships with a variety of personalities and situations. Positive, professional demeanor. Must be detail oriented.
