Summary:
Works under the direction of the Director of Accounting and Finance, this position will be an integral part of the Business Services team.
Responsibilities:
- Reconcile, review, analyze, investigate and correct potential discrepancies for numerous District bank accounts, including initiate interest and dividend journal entries for all investment accounts.
- Reconcile District capital asset activities between general ledger and capital asset accounting system.
- Assist school personnel with the District's online student fee payment portals, revolving account additions/maintenance, sales tax report support.
- Liaise as a fund manager for fund 16 (athletics) and 23 (school activities) for preliminary and revised budget, monitoring the expenditures, and financial reporting on financial statements to ensure transactions are in accordance with District financial policies and generally accepted accounting principles.
- Collaborate on a monthly training for school office managers and treasurers. Be a point of contact for inquiries from schools.
- Assist with the District's annual financial audit, including work paper preparation and providing research/answers to auditor inquiries.
- Complete the Districts annual unclaimed property report to submit to the State.
- Assist with the preparation of the District's monthly and quarterly financial statements and also the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report.
- Provide support to school staff with inquiries specific to the District's general ledger, student activity accounting software, coach FTE/pay, review/approve journal entries.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of direct experience in accounting or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years experience working for a governmental entity, public accounting firm, or similar entity in an account/financial capacity.
- School district experience
- Communicate (read, write, and speak) in English.
- Completed and submitted BVSD online application.
Preferred:
- CPA Certification.
- Experience working with audit work paper preparation, financial statement preparation, and Annual Comprehensive Financial Report preparation.
- Experience working with Infor/ERP System.
- The ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Advanced personal computer and software skills along with extensive knowledge with fund accounting, budget development and financial analysis.
- Ability to work within a team structure to meet deadlines while ensuring accuracy and completeness of projects.
- Experience managing restricted funds to ensure compliance with reporting requirements, and eligibility of expenditures.
- Ability to manage projects and keep them within approved timelines.
Salary Information:
Salary Range 3:$70,667 - $106,000
Salary Placement varies according to experience and education.

BVSD engages in a salary placement process vs. a salary negotiation process.
