Examples of Duties
+ Maintains and updates utility billing database; enters service calls; processes account transactions related to customers moving in/out of homes and residences; processes service orders.
+ Prepares data file to process utility billings; research problems; receives, processes, and posts payments and issues receipts; handles and balances cash and credit card payments; processes accounts for collections; reconciles reports.
+ Assists in providing telephone and/or counter support to the public and staff; responds to inquiries by explaining procedures; provides general information; distributes forms and other documents as requested refers callers/visitors to appropriate department; takes and relays accurate messages; transfers callers to voicemail when necessary.
+ Receives cash, makes change, and issues receipts; balances cash to appropriate account.
Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of training and experience which would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
Accounting Assistant II
+ Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade AND
+ Two (2) years of experience in processing accounting documents, maintaining accounting records, and/or billing and collections.
Supplemental Information
Union Representation: SEIU
Schedule: Monday- Thursday 7:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m. (This position is not remote-work eligible)
Compensation for Accounting Assistant II: The hourly range for this overtime eligible position is $24.72-$33.13 per hour. The starting pay assignment, based on an analysis of the successful candidate's related experience and education in accordance with the City's pay equity policy and the Oregon Equal Pay Act, would be no higher than $30.05 per hour. In addition there is a 5.5% Bilingual Pay Incentive.
