Accounting Clerk – Immediately Hiring at Express Employment Professionals

Position Overview:
The Accounting Clerk is responsible for performing various accounting tasks related to both accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR), ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting general accounting functions. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining the financial health of the organization by efficiently handling day-to-day accounting duties and assisting in the preparation of monthly financial statements.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Accounts Payable (AP):

   • Process vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy, proper coding, and timely entry into the system.
   • Match purchase orders with invoices and resolve discrepancies.
   • Prepare and process payments, including checks, electronic transfers, and wire transfers.
   • Maintain vendor files and update payment terms.
   • Respond to vendor inquiries and resolve payment issues.

2. Accounts Receivable (AR):

   • Generate and issue invoices to customers in a timely manner.
   • Track outstanding receivables and follow up on overdue accounts.
   • Process payments and reconcile receipts with customer accounts.
   • Prepare and maintain AR aging reports.
   • Address customer inquiries and resolve discrepancies.

3. General Ledger and Journal Entries:

   • Assist in maintaining the general ledger, ensuring all entries are accurate and posted in a timely manner.
   • Prepare and record journal entries, including accruals, prepaid expenses, and adjusting entries.
   • Perform monthly reconciliations of key accounts (e.g., bank, AR, AP, prepaid, and accruals).

4. Preparation of Monthly Financial Statements:

   • Assist in the preparation of balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
   • Compile supporting documentation for financial statement line items.
   • Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting standards.

5. General Accounting Functions:

   • Maintain and organize accounting records and supporting documentation.
   • Assist in month-end and year-end close processes.
   • Help prepare for audits by providing supporting documents and reconciliations.
   • Support other accounting tasks as assigned by the accounting manager or controller.
