POSITION SUMMARY/PURPOSE:
Responsible for managing all functions of the accounting department (financial accounting, cost accounting, treasury, tax accounting) and overseeing all aspects of the company's financial operations. This position reports directly to the company CFO.
Responsibility includes managing the accounting supervisor, staff, and activities, overseeing accurate and timely preparation and analyses of all facts of the financial operations of the company, including financial statement preparation, cash management, budget preparation and analyses, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and all other fiscally related duties. The Manager Accounting's responsibilities will also include handling accounting department employee relations, recruitment, retention, termination, policies and procedures, and may perform other administrative duties as required.
KEY JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Responsible for managing all aspects of accounting (accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, general ledger entries, bank reconciliation, fixed asset recording and reconciliation, cash applications, cost analysis, financial analysis, treasury, cash flow management and planning, inventory accounting, cost accounting, tax accounting)
2. Responsible for managing the compilation of timely and accurate financial processing, month-end close, cash management reports, balance sheet accounts reconciliation, and financial statements.
3. Responsible for cash management, including performing international and domestic wire transfers, ACH payments, and maintaining lines of credit.
4. Maintain professional banking relationships.
5. Coordinate and direct the development and preparation of budgets, forecasts, and projections.
6. Manage and direct the preparation of State Sales and Use Taxes: quarterly, semi-annually, or annually for various states (such as CA, MI, FL, TX, etc.).
7. Direct and review the foreign currency exchange tables for monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, or annual closing.
8. Manage and direct the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, bank reports, and various detailed analysis reports.
9. Manage and direct maintain files and comply with the company's record retention requirements.
10. Manage hiring and termination of accounting employees with the Human Resource Department.
11. Direct, assign, and review all sub-ledgers, such as cash, receivable, payable, inventory, fixed assets, and cost, as well as financial analysis reports prepared by accounting department members.
12. Manage, direct, and administer the maintenance of ledger, reconciliation, and related documents for designated accounts every month and fiscal year closing.
13. Manage, coordinate, and solve tax issues and audit with the DIAM tax department.
14. Determines proper handling of financial transactions and approves transactions.
15. Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (US GAAP, IFRS) and company procedures.
16. Reviews, investigates, documents, and coordinates implementation of accounting systems and accounting control procedures.
17. Manage and direct installation, modification, documentation, coordination, and implementation of accounting systems and control procedures.
18. Makes recommendations and reports to the CFO for critical financial activities such as assets impairment reserves, write-offs, tax issues, tax solutions, and restructuring (cost, financial, and organizational).
19. Conduct studies and submit recommendations for improving the organization's accounting operation.
20. Direct and manage appropriate data collection and prepare federal, state, and local reports and tax returns.
21. Define and update existing policies and procedures.
22. Participate in discussions and implementations with/under the CFO and other management to continuously evolve and enhance long-term strategic profit planning and company operations.
23. Liaison between company and parent company on accounting matters.
24. Conducts all other financial and special projects assigned by the CFO.
25. Manage and control financial statement audit.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

EDUCATION
Bachelor of Science (Arts) in accounting or closely related field is required.
EXPERIENCE
Related accounting experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LICENCESES/CERTIFICATIONS
CPA, CMA
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Bachelor of Science (Arts) in accounting or closely related field is required.
US CPA or US CMA certificate required.
Manager experience (Accounting or Finance) for 5 years or more is required.
Staff management experience for 5 or more staff is plus.
Automobile industry experience 5 years or more is plus.
JSOX management experience is plus.
Large data handling skill and experience required.
Spreadsheets (MS Excel) Advanced skill is a big plus. Large data handling skill and experience required.
Databases (MS Access) intermediate or more is a plus.
Word Processing (MS Word) intermediate or more is a plus.
SKILLS & ABILITIES OTHER
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Bilingual (English and Japanese) is plus.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as IRS code, USGAAP, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
