Position Overview:
This contract role is responsible for managing the accounting and financial reporting of accounts receivable, cash flow, and expenses. The individual in this position will ensure that records are maintained accurately in line with established policies, procedures, and internal controls. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, as is the ability to work independently or collaboratively while upholding confidentiality regarding client and customer information. Candidates must be highly organized and possess skills in time management, problem-solving, analytical and critical thinking, decision-making, budgeting, and organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage revenue recognition for completed projects and percentage of completion.
- Reconcile trial balances with revenue and cost of sales, including external and intercompany data by business unit.
- Update revenue and cost of sales (COS) reports, providing year-to-date (YTD) figures for divisional reporting.
- Monitor and update the Orders on Hand.
- Review deferred costs for in-process/completed phases and prepare necessary entries.
- Create and update reporting files for revenue and cost of sales, ensuring accurate YTD figures for division-level reporting.
- Conduct flux analysis, explaining variances between forecast and actual figures.
- Investigate variances between actual costs and labor/burden allocation/utilization.
- Prepare journal entries for:
- Inventory
- Prepaids
- Intangibles
- Extended Warranty
- IT and Facilities cost allocation
- Reconcile monthly warranty activity and post accruals.
- Review and ensure correct accounting treatment of account transactions.
- Handle commission reviews and prepare monthly payout schedules.
- Post payroll journal entries.
- Complete monthly account reconciliations.
Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of general accounting principles, especially regarding revenue and cost of sales.
- Proficiency in MS Office (particularly Excel) and familiarity with ERP accounting systems.
- 4-7 years of general accounting experience.
- Ability to independently resolve complex issues and analyze detailed data accurately.
- Excellent organizational skills with a focus on maintaining thorough documentation.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Resilience and adaptability in a dynamic work environment.
