About the Job
Erie Neighborhood House, a progressive social service agency serving the Chicago metropolitan area and dedicated to promoting a just and inclusive society, is seeking a full-time Accounts Payable Specialist. Reporting to the Finance Director, the Accounts Payable Specialist will perform a variety of financial functions under the direct supervision of the Finance Director.
Position Responsibilities:
- Process all check requests, invoices, and mileage reimbursements for payment accurately and timely.
- Process T-Mobile invoice for payment accurately and timely.
- Handle accounts payable tasks, including check requests, and scheduling/distribution of payments at least twice monthly.
- Obtain all appropriate signatures for approval.
- All vendor setup, creation, and maintenance in MIP software.
- Reconcile vendor statements.
- Request proper paperwork such as W9, ACH form, workers compensation insurance.
- Receives, processes, and reconciles company credit card for all Visa and American Express account information at least monthly.
- Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, reports, and aging with journal entries.
- Processes voiding or re-issuing of checks as needed.
- Responsible for following up with vendors, directors, or employees for all outstanding checks.
- Produces annual 1099s.
- Provide support during internal and external audits.
- Maintain vendor relationships and address inquiries in a professional manner.
- Scan financial documents into finance drive, such as invoices, and correspondence received.
- Arranges and maintains the organization and safekeeping of accounting records and documents electronically.
- Provide additional clerical support as assigned by the supervisor.
Position Requirements:
- Minimum of a High School Diploma with at least 2 years of clerical experience; an associate degree is preferred.
- Availability to work in the office Monday through Friday during regular business hours.
- Strong background in office management with exceptional attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel; familiarity with automated accounting/billing systems is a plus.
- Possess a strong positive work attitude and enthusiasm.
