Shipping & Receiving Responsibilities

• Ship orders to customers - prepare orders for shipment according to the packing slip. Pull items from stock and/or from incoming orders.
• Prepare shipping information and paperwork. Arrange delivery or pick-up of orders, i.e., calls to freight company, courier service, etc.
• Receive shipments for entire company - Unload delivery trucks, open packages and verify the contents against the packing slip, record any discrepancies on the packing slip and forward all packing slips to receivers.
• Update computer records regarding shipping & receiving of packages and supply inventory. Access computer records as needed to trace shipping schedule and location of packages.
• Plan location layouts, relocate new and used items. Document the location of materials going into inventory.
• Process Returns daily/weekly.
• Prepare Bills of Lading for freight to be delivered to customers.
• Arrange for freight pick-ups and prepare freight to be shipped, i.e. wrapping, banding, etc. File claims with freight companies for damages, short shipments, etc.
• Misc. light maintenance duties, i.e., sweeping, organizing, emptying cardboard bailer, etc.
• Other miscellaneous duties and responsibilities as required.

Shipping & Receiving Requirements

• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to read and understand a packing slip, purchase order, invoice, and other business forms.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Computer knowledge. Basic typing skills.
• Valid forklift operator certification or willingness to obtain one.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions

• Ability to lift and carry items up to 20 lbs frequently, and up to 45 lbs occasionally.
• Standing and walking approximately 90% of the time.
• Frequent stooping, bending, and reaching above the shoulders.
• Ability to operate manual and powered material handling equipment, including forklift.
• Comfortable working in varying temperatures.
