About the Job
The Activity Supervisor is responsible for organizing, programming schedules and leading activity programs and volunteer services aimed at promoting the psychosocial well-being of residents and ensuring maximum participation at Rock Haven. These programs may include individual or group activities such as exercise, games, crafts, social outings, musical entertainment, and visits by church groups and other organizations. Perform resident assessment to determine individuals ability to participate. Additionally, the Activity Supervisor oversees the Activity Therapy Assistants (ATAs) and other departmental staff, as well as manages the facility's canteen (gift shop) for residents.
25% - Organizes the activity programs for Rock Haven
- Plans events and assigns staff duties and responsibilities to implement group and individual activities.
- Maintains an inventory of supplies and materials and manages resources within the department budget.
- Assists in the preparation and presentation of activity related in-services. Conducts quality assurance activities.
- Incorporates, supports and guides volunteers in activity functions.
- Provides nursing staff with suggestions and the necessary materials to conduct activity programming on the unit
30% - Plans, organizes, and implements recreational and activity interventions according to the goals of resident's plan of care in collaboration with team members as circumstances warrant.
- Interacts with residents, families, volunteers and representatives of other agencies on an ongoing basis.
- Collects and records data which will be incorporated into activity assessments.
- Documents assessments upon admission, quarterly, following the Medicare schedule and as needed.
- Observes, reports and documents pertinent changes in the resident's physical, emotional or social status.
- Participates in the overall planning and implementation of the resident's plan of care.
20% - Evaluates recreational and activity interventions according to the goals of resident's plan of care in collaboration with team members as circumstances warrant.
- Evaluates and documents the resident's response to activity programming.
20% - Hires, directs, supervises, and evaluates assigned staff.
- Participates in the interview process for new Activity Therapy Assistants.
- Completes and presents annual evaluations to the ATAs.
- Consults with the Nursing Home Administrator regarding concerns related to ATA job performance and the discipline process.
- Attends and directs staff to attend required in-service programs.
- Participates in Interdisciplinary team meetings, Medicare meeting and other committees/meetings as assigned.
