Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required
Previous experience and CNA license preferred
Must obtain BLS Certification by the end of orientation and maintain it; achieve Basic EKG certification with 80% or greater for flexibility in the Monitor Tech role as required by unit population
Basic knowledge of medical terminology preferred
Proficiency in oral and written communication, grammar, and basic mathematics
Full-time, part-time, and PRN candidates MUST be available to work full-time hours for the first 6-8 weeks for orientation

Job Responsibilities:
Make a difference by assisting with personal hygiene for patients, ensuring dignity and comfort through baths, oral hygiene, and toileting
Monitor and record vital signs, promptly reporting any abnormalities to nursing staff
Create a welcoming, safe environment by maintaining clean, organized patient rooms and changing linens
Prioritize and respond to patient requests with compassion and efficiency
Assist patients during mealtime, documenting intake while promoting independence
Perform essential treatments as directed by RNs, such as enemas and dressing changes
Support patients with movement and ambulation, ensuring safety and comfort while documenting appropriately
Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families, addressing fears and ensuring privacy
Collect and deliver specimens, equipment, and supplies to streamline patient care
Facilitate patient admissions and discharges, including providing post-mortem care with dignity
Contribute to administrative tasks, such as answering phones, taking messages, and ordering supplies
Efficiently enter computer orders as assigned and care for patient care equipment
Be a guiding light by orienting new employees to the role of acute care assistant
Reconcile daily charges, monitor variances, and verify system interfaces for accuracy
Process EMR and patient charts, ensuring smooth admissions and discharges
Communicate effectively with physicians and other departments to secure timely test results and services
Keep meticulous unit-specific records and step up during emergencies
Participate in nursing and hospital committees and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care
Follow downtime processes and maintain access to medication rooms with integrity
Deliver outstanding customer service that reflects our organization’s mission and values
Adhere to relevant laws, regulations, and compliance programs to uphold professionalism
Maintain a safe and ergonomic workspace, using proper body mechanics and safety practices
