Pacific Trailer Repair Services is hiring immediately for Administrative Assistant to join our team in a recession-proof industry at a Rail Container Storage Yard in Oakland, California. This is an entry level position as we'll teach you everything you need to know in order to be successful on the job. Good communication, basic computer, and office skills are required.
Starting Rate is $19.00
We're hiring for the below shift:.
- 8 am-5 pm Monday through Friday
- Overtime is sometimes available.

Summary/Objective:
The Administrative Assistant provides administrative support to managers and employees through a variety of tasks such as directing incoming calls, managing mail, inventory, payroll and day to day operations to ensure the efficient operation of the office.
Essential Responsibilities:
Responsible for answering and directing phone calls in a courteous manner.
- Produce and distribute correspondence memos, letters, faxes and forms to employees.
- Assist in preparation for regularly scheduled reports.
- Organize and schedule meetings and appointments.
- Inventory management to ensure there is a sufficient supply in office inventory; this would include ordering supplies, maintaining an organized supply area, waybill lading, cost analyst and projection.
- Perform additional administrative functions to include coding invoices, performing billing on intermodal units and collection of miscellaneous paperwork within the intermodal units.
- Have a basic knowledge of compliance under HAZMAT and OSHA Regulations. This would include reporting any incidents to the supervisory immediately. Administrative Assistants are required to wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), such as safety vest, safety glasses and protective hard hat, when applicable.
- Records management, develop and maintain an accurate filing system.
- Serves as a go-to for general office inquires.
- Maintaining vendor and contact lists.
- Be aware of surroundings to maintain a safe and injury free work environment.
- Maintain company values, rules, policies and procedures are met to fulfill the company mission, as well as productive relationships with customers and vendors.
- Responsible for special tasks requested by management and/or supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Valid Drivers License
- Pass a drug test.
- Some knowledge of railroad industry from a vocational education institute, apprenticeship, on the job training and/or similar work experience.
- Highly organized and flexible.
- Detailed oriented and works with a high degree of accuracy.
- Working knowledge of email, scheduling and Microsoft systems.

You will be employed directly by Pacific Trailer Repair Services and will not be an employee of the Railroad.
