JOB SUMMARY
The Sergeant is a sworn officer who utilizes organizational and interpersonal skills necessary to interact with citizens and direct-line level Police and Security Officers while ensuring that public safety and law enforcement standards are met. Monitors and maintains positive relations within Patrol Personnel and with other divisions. Displays flexibility in providing support to administration and performing Officer duties as demand dictates.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
+ ·Reviews and participates in the development of policies, procedures, and Standard Operating Guidelines. ·Conducts operational-level inquiries and investigations into citizen complaints regarding Public Safety personnel, including Internal Affairs Investigations. ·Professionally handles sensitive investigations and information in a professional manner, safeguarding confidential information obtained through investigation or from Law Enforcement authorities.·Collects and reviews crime and statistical data and reports to regulatory agencies as needed.·Ability to evaluate and recommend changes to policies, and establish procedures that affect the managed organization.·Knowledge and ability to assist with oversight of various areas within the Professional Standards division, including the Criminal Investigations division, Property & Evidence, Fleet & Quartermaster, and Internal Affairs. ·Supervises and leads subordinates in enforcing laws, ordinances, policies, and procedures for the police department.·Assists in developing and achieving departmental goals.

+ Attain and maintain a minimum passing score of 80% accuracy during firearms qualification and requalification.
+ Ability to make tactical judgments around the allocation and direction of the work of supervised employees using established guidelines, policies and/or procedures.
+ Ability to make effective hiring and termination recommendations.
+ Ability to train, and evaluate performance of supervised staff.
+ General computer skills, including but not limited to: Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, and email.

QUALIFICATIONS
+ EDUCATION - Associate's or 2 years of work experience above the minimum qualification
+ EXPERIENCE - 3 Years of Experience
+ EXPERIENCE: 2-3 years experience working in an administrative leadership law enforcement capacity is strongly preferred
+ CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION -
Licensed Peace Officer (LPO)
Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS within 30 days of hire.
