THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE:
The City of San Luis Obispo is looking for a passionate candidate who intimately understands the importance of diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, community-outreach and involvement, in both the government setting and the community at large.
The successful, caring, and dynamic candidate will have proven professional, educational, and personal lived experience, or a combination of all in providing support and leading projects and programs to completion in which prioritization of a DEI lens is embedded.The candidate will be a culturally and emotionally competent individual to support the Office of DEI. They will embody cultural humility, trauma-informed practices, and the confidence of a change agent in the organization, while strategically approaching projects and problems with innovative solutions, engagement, and candor. The candidate will create safe and brave environments for staff and the community to feel and be engaged in participation, by furthering the Office of DEI goals and tactics. The individual must be empathetic, open-minded, have lived experience in diverse backgrounds and environments, eager to learn from others and collegially work in collaboration with and follow directions from the DEI Manager and support the overall City Council vision.
THE RECRUITMENT PROCESS:
Candidates must submit an online application by 5:00 pm on October 20, 2024. Once the position has closed, applications that meet the minimum qualifications for the role will be reviewed by a panel comprised of City staff and community partners. After applications are reviewed by the panel, candidates will be notified of their status and those selected to move forward in the recruitment process will be invited to interview. Please note that this classification is used by multiple departments but this recruitment will establish an eligibility list for the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
