Administrative Specialist
Police Department
Part-Time Regular - 20 Hours per week
Pay Range: $16.65 to $24.98 FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (eligible for overtime) Deadline to Apply: 7/6/21
Position Summary: Under the direction and supervision of the Training and Recruiting Officer, this position prepares and presents a variety of public awareness and education programs in crime prevention to the community. Responsible for planning and implementing outreach programs and events and cultivating relationships with businesses, individuals, and other organizations in support of the goals and mission of the Police Department.
Essential Duties: Crafts and delivers public service announcements for the local media to alert the community regarding crime in the area; informs the public regarding crime prevention techniques through speaking engagements, neighborhood programs, special events and media releases. Coordinates programs such as National Night Out celebration, Block Watch, and Crime Free Multi-Housing Programs. Other tasks and responsibilities as required by position, coordinate and facilitate community outreach programs such as Coffee with a Cop, Citizen Academy and Teen Academy. Manage social media interactions and assist with public information campaigns. Assist with pre-employment background investigations as needed. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Qualified applicants must have at least two (2) years of office/administrative experience and/or have experience working in a law enforcement setting. Applicants should have a working knowledge of multiple common social media platforms; including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Must possess a current AZ driver's license; in good standing. Candidate must successfully pass background investigation, polygraph test, drug testing, verbal response interview, driving and credit check.
