Advanced Practice Clinician PA NP - Neurology - Ascension

We Are Hiring:

• Specialty: Neurology
• Schedule: 40 hours per week
• Call Schedule: 1:4 after hours practice call, weekly rotation
• Practice Detail: Join three very experienced and well-respected Physicians
• EMR System: Athena and Cerner
• Facility: Ascension Alexian Brothers Medical Center and St. Alexius Medical Center
• Location: Elk Grove Village, IL and Schaumburg, IL and Hoffman Estates, IL 

What You Will Do:

Ascension Illinois is looking for an Advanced Practice Clinician, Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner for our Neurology Department.

 

This is a great opportunity for the right candidate to partner with Ascension Illinois to provide medical services to patients.

 

Position Highlights:

 

• General Neurology
• 100% outpatient
• Experience in Neurosciences (Neurology, Neurosurgery, Neuro Stroke) in an ambulatory setting preferred
• Patient population, Adult care, 17 years or older
• Direct patient care performing physical exams, diagnose and treat conditions, and monitor patient activity
• Prescribes medication independently and in collaboration with a physician
• Perform procedures in office setting
• Order and interprets laboartory, imaging, and neurodiagnostic tests
• Educates patients and their famillies 
• Performance administrative duties for the neurology service such as managing clinical questions, insurance pre-authorization peer reviews, and form completion
• Acts as a resource to the staff
• Ability to travel to multiple locations, Elk Grove Village, Schaumburg and Hoffman Estates
• Excellent office support staff

 

Responsibilities:

 

• Evaluates and treats patients with appropriate medical diagnostic and treatment skills. 
• Recommends, participates in, and works to ensure the success of efforts to improve cost effectiveness and quality of care provided to patients.
• Accepts patient referrals from other physicians. Acts as admitting, attending and/or consulting physician for patients who require hospitalization for primary medical diagnoses, depending on needs of patients, medical staff and hospital.
• Participates in academic programs (e.g. medical education and research) as requested.
• Provides appropriate documentation that meets insurance company requirements; appeal all denials in a timely manner.
• Participates in inpatient and outpatient consultation for specialty, which may include on call schedules.

What You Will Need:

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

• BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Credentials are verified by local staff credentialing office.
• Physician Assistant credentialed from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Credentials are verified by local staff credentialing office.
• Advanced Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) preferred.

Education:

• Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Master's degree preferred.

Work Experience:

• 1 year of experience preferred.
