The Project Engineer (Electronics) will be responsible for researching,
designing, developing, and testing new sensors or other electronic
technologies as directed by the Advanced Technology Group (ATG) Steering
Committee.
Essential Functions:
Specify materials and components for use in designs of electronics and
embedded components, systems, and assemblies in use with design
engineering.
Generates and optimizes designs for use with electronic sensors,
systems, and assemblies.
Develop and assemble prototypes for newly proposed electronic sensors
and systems.
Conduct stress analyses and optimization of designs for the integration
of sensors into products.
Identifies and recommends manufacturing processes and equipment for
integrated sensor programs.
Support development of low-cost prototype production concepts for new
designs, including specification and procurement of equipment, tooling,
and components.
Develops detailed test plans based on industry standards or custom
applications to validate new product concepts, materials, and processes.
Write clear test procedures and detailed rest reports in a timely manner
to meet project deadlines.
Establishes clear targets, timing goals, and performance expectations
for each electronic program to ensure clear definitions.
Coordinate technical design and test aspects of new programs with
suppliers and company divisions.
Develop and provide presentation materials for technical presentations
with internal audiences and supplement the presentation information as
needed.
Provides continuous improvement through employee development, process
improvement, and elimination of waste.
Follow company quality standards.
Stay up to date on industry best practices and emerging technologies.
Supervises concept development programs to meet packaging, performance,
and cost targets.
Other duties as assigned.
Education and Training
Bachelor's degree in an engineering field required.
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or mechatronics preferred.
Master's degree or higher a plus.
Minimum Qualifications
A minimum of 4 years' experience in an engineering role required.
Ability to travel as needed up to 10% of the time.
Experience in an electronic engineering or embedded engineering role
preferred.
Experience in product design preferred.
Experience in manufacturing preferred.
Experience in mechatronics for rugged environments preferred.
Proficient with 3D printing processes and material properties required.
Proficiency in mechanical software tools required (e.g., NX, ProE,
SolidWorks, Creo, etc.).
Understanding of electronics and the ability to read schematics.
Experience with testing, data acquisition, and analysis equipment.
Ability to manage major development projects and meet deadlines; ability
to manage time.
Experience in product innovation.
