GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Tyonek Services Group is seeking an Aircraft Mechanic II / Tool and Die - Machinist. The ideal candidate must have a working knowledge of aircraft Computer Numeric Control (CNC), tool & die/machining/welding repair, and a minimum of four (4) years' experience.
DUTIES
- An aircraft tool & die/machinist/welder or equivalent is required and shall be able to read, interpret drawings, accomplish repairs, and manufacture parts from engineering drawings or dispositions. This job requires working knowledge of technical publications, Computer Numeric Control (CNC) tool & die/machining/welding repair with a minimum of four (4) years' experience. This mechanic receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician, shall occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks, and may be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records.
- Maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty, maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components, applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies required expertise in restoring equipment condition and or operation, and applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints or manufactures' manuals.
- Individuals must be able to prioritize workloads and are required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks. Mechanic IIs can inspect Mechanic IIs and Is.
- Provides input to Maintenance Engineering Changes (MEC), Estimated Cost of Damage preparation (ECOD) and assist in the recommendation of changes to (MWO).
- May require specialization in sheet metal, electric work, avionics or other aircraft systems related disciplines
- Work will be accomplished on and off aircraft depending on specific requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- A minimum of four (4) years of experience on the C-130H/J variant aircraft preferred.
- Trained on the proper use, inspection, and wear of personal protective clothing and equipment is required.
- Must be qualified as an aviation welder.
- Must have working knowledge of Computer Numeric Control (CNC).
- Must have experience with SolidWorks/ Computer Aided Design(CAD).
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.

- Must be able to perform on-aircraft machining.
- Must be able to perform off-aircraft component machining.
- Must be able to repair/fabricate aircraft mission equipment, components, and support equipment.
- Must be able to fabricate tools and dies.
- Must be able to perform additive and subtractive manufacturing.
- Must be able to perform on- and off- aircraft modification support.
- Must be able to support aircraft mechanics as required on all tasks on- and off-aircraft.
- Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for certain periods throughout the day.
- Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands, working at heights with fall protection devices.
- Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.
- May be required to lift up to 50 pounds and carry for short distances.
- May be required to read dials/gauges, identify small objects and hand tools.
- Must be able to see imperfections, micrometer readings and other small scales.
- Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
- Must be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depth.
- Will be required to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, forklift.
- Expected to work in high heat or extreme cold temperatures for extended periods of time.
- May operate in austere CONUS and OCONUS locations.
- Ability to work in confined spaces.
