Alcohol and Drug Counselors JSAP at Allegany County Health Department

LOCATION:  Behavioral Health, based at Allegany County Detention Center

NATURE OF WORK:  This position is assigned the duties at the Allegany County Detention Center to provide general substance abuse treatment services for inmates of the detention center, to include evaluation, assessment, treatment planning, counseling, and service coordination. Other duties as assigned.

NOTE: Must attend and pass the 6-week Maryland Correctional Academy in Hagerstown. Physical exam, psychological screening, urinalysis, and background required as part of program.

STATE JOB TITLE DEPENDENT ON EDUCATION AND LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:

• Alcohol/Drug Associate Counselor Provisional = no certification, has Bachelor’s degree in Human Service program, that includes Ethics course with focus on addictions (other Ethic courses do not qualify)
• Alcohol/Drug Supervised Counselor Provisional – no certification, has associate degree in Human Service program, that includes Ethics course with focus on addictions (other Ethics courses will not qualify)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: You must have the certification or education described above.

SALARY:    Based on certification education; full State of Maryland benefit package.       

HOURS:  Full-time Monday-Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm; no weekends or holidays.
