AmeriCorps Member - Marketing and Research Specialist

Position Summary:
The AmeriCorps Marketing and Research Specialist will primarily focus on capacity-building activities related to marketing, research, and outreach to support Partners In Care Maryland, Inc. (PIC) in addressing the needs of Maryland's aging population.

Essential Functions:
- Marketing Communications & Outreach (Capacity Building):
- Assist in developing and implementing marketing communication strategies to attract and retain older adults within PIC's supportive community.
- Cultivate relationships with aging organizations and community partners to expand PIC's network and outreach efforts.
- Support the coordination and attendance of special events aimed at engaging older adults and community stakeholders.
- Conduct market research to identify prospective new older adults who could benefit from PIC's services.
Research (Capacity Building):
- Distribute and/or conduct surveys and collect data to assess the needs and preferences of older adults in the community.
- Compile and analyze data from surveys and assessment tools to inform program development and improvement.
- Research potential partnerships and collaborations with organizations serving the aging community.
- Conduct ongoing research into the evolving needs and demographics of the aging population in Maryland.
Direct Service:
- Engage in face-to-face or digital interactions with older adults to provide support and companionship.
- Conduct friendly home visits and phone calls, engaging older adults in memory and cognitive activities, crafting, and social interactions.
- Provide information, referrals, and advocacy to connect older adults with essential services and resources.
- Offer technology assistance, reading, and writing support to enhance older adults' digital literacy and communication skills.
- Facilitate group activities and provide transportation assistance for health care appointments, grocery shopping, and social gatherings.
Position Details:
- AmeriCorps Service terms are:
- November 11, 2024 through July 31, 2025 or
- January 6, 2025 through August 14, 2025 .
- Deployment Site: Partners In Care- Anne Arundel - 8151 C Ritchie Hwy, Pasadena, MD 21122
Member Hours, Benefits and Compensation:
- RHT (Reduced Half Time) members are required to accumulate 675 hours and QT (Quarter Time) members are required to accumulate 450 hours - within their service period, with occasional Saturday or evening events. Other opportunities for a commitment of lesser hours may be available.

Qualifications:
- Compassion for and interest in working with older adults.
- Strong marketing communication skills, including writing, editing, social media, and event planning.
- Trustworthy, patient, reliable, organized, and committed.
- Ability to work effectively with a vulnerable population.
Reporting and Evaluation:
- Regular reporting on activities, outputs, and outcomes as per AmeriCorps guidelines.
- Evaluation of capacity-building efforts through increased organizational connections and program reach.
- Evaluation of direct service impact on older adults' independence, social engagement, and well-being.
Supervision and Support:
- Supervision provided by PIC site staff and AmeriCorps Director.
- Training and professional development opportunities provided in alignment with AmeriCorps requirements and program goals.
In addition to the activities above, all PIC AmeriCorps Members Will:
- Represent PIC’s AmeriCorps Program by wearing the AmeriCorps logo daily
- In the event of a local, state, or federal disaster declaration, AmeriCorps members may be asked on a volunteer basis or be required by Maryland’s Governor’s Office on Service and
Volunteerism to activate to assist in disaster response and recovery activities within their communities. This may involve virtual service opportunities or in-person service opportunities. This may include service opportunities outside of the member’s standard service hours or in place of their standard service duties. In the event of a large-scale, high needs local, state, or federal disaster, AmeriCorps members may voluntarily or be required by the Govern-appointed State Service Commission to deploy to an area outside of their service area to assist in disaster response and recovery activities.
Nonessential Functions: PIC Members may have opportunities to engage in the following activities:

Operating in five counties throughout Maryland since 1993 and currently embracing 2,600+ members, we use a service-exchange concept as the foundation for our support for members. The objective is to build a community network of care around people as they age by engaging people to help each other with the myriad tasks involved in everyday living. Neighbors volunteer their time and services to help seniors live with dignity and independence. Everyone contributes something and is valued for it in the reciprocal exchange of services.
