Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Anesthesia Tech - Tisch Hospital.
In this role, the successful candidate Responsible for stocking anesthetic supplies for ORs, maintaining anesthetic equipment, ensuring anesthetic equipment is available, and assisting clinicians with patient care.
Job Responsibilities:
Clinical/ Patient Care
Provides assistance to all anesthesia clinicians:
- During induction, maintenance and emergence from anesthesia
- With the placement of regional anesthetics and invasive monitoring devices.
- Provides medication to provider
- Retrieves drugs from drug delivery system
- With pain blocks, epidurals, spinals, line placement and patient positioning but no medication administration
- With transporting patients
- Follows directives and protocols
- Communicates with circulating nurses
- Responds to codes within the limitations of the above duties
Equipment
- Calibrates and runs Quality Control and Quality Assurance analysis
- Calibrates and trouble-shoots anesthesia machines
- Sets up Level I RIS, syringe pumps, capnographs, TEG and TEEs
- Sets up intravenous, central venous, arterial, pulmonary artery catheters using sterile techniques, percutaneous introducer kits, double lumen kits, triple lumen kits, long arm CVP kits, chest tubes, ARNDT blockers, univent tubes, trans-tracheal intubations, fiberoptic scopes, LMAs, tube changers, jet ventilation and resuscitation bags.
- Clears debris and equipment from the surface and drawers of used anesthesia machines
- Insures the sterility and cleanliness of all machines
- Performs all standard procedural checks on equipment
- Assists with trouble shooting technical problems
- Makes minor repairs and adjustments to equipment
- Informs Engineering and supervisor of needed repairs
Supplies
- Checks machine drawers to insure they are well stocked
- Makes available fluids, Lactated Ringers, Plasma Lite, Normal Saline, Hespan, Flextend, FFP, Whole Blood and Albumin
- Disposes of supplies used in regular and contaminated cases
Gases
- Ensures medical pipeline is operational, including N2O, O2 and Medical Air
- Checks the status of nitrous oxide, nitrogen and carbon dioxide cylinder banks to determine available supply pressure
- Replaces empty cylinders
Other
- Assists with the training of Anesthesia Technicians
- Apprises supervisor of performance of Anesthesia Technicians
- Ensures workroom areas are clean and orderly before, during and after each shift
- Performs other related duties as requested
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Graduate of a one-year Anesthesia Technician program or certification from anesthesia technology program with 5 years experience
Must be able to read, write, follow instructions
Certification in BLS-C required.
Lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs.
Basic computer skills.
Required Licenses: Basic Life Support Cert
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree preferred .Experience in staff development and training preferred.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $75,119.58 - $78,002.15 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
